I bought this for one reason and one reason only. It's a Gyuune Cassette release. If you don't know what that means, then you don't have enough experience digging around the Japanese underground yet. I had never heard of these guys until this popped up in one of my random searches for gyuune, and it was cheap and i'm like absolutely this is going in my cart. gyuune tends to be pretty weird and usually kinda DIY sounding. MSAYA might be weird, but certainly not DIY sounding. this shit is CRAFT. the album spans several 'genres', if we even want to call them that and regardless of what style the song is in, be it psychedelic, ambient, indie rock, or even punk rock, each song is mesmerizingly hypnotic. its some kind of spell, i'm convinced of it. it might also be that i haven't worked under 50 hours in 8 weeks, and am in the midst of a solid 60+ hour week right now.. but even with that, this album screams to me as brilliant. an underground gem, for sure.
